INTERNATIONAL GALA EVENING

The Ordre des Canardiers is 40 years old this year. This special anniversary was celebrated on June 6th during a Gala Evening held at « Espace Vue sur Seine » in Rouen.
The evening started with the induction of 19 new members, including Lady Canardiers, Gentleman Canardiers and Master Canardiers, who contributed to the growth of the Ordre by completing the list of 4500 inducted members since the Ordre was founded.
This impressionism-themed gala evening gathered 175 guests, including two foreign delegations, from Germany and Chicago, Illinois. The venue was decorated and lit by GSA and the flower arrangements were designed by Fleurs Ô Naturel. As for the cocktail reception and the meal, they were provided by Coudray Traiteur, our partner caterer.
The cocktail reception enabled the participants to meet and chat. Besides, they were also given the opportunity to take pictures in a special photo booth looking like an impressionist workshop, which enabled them to keep a memento from the evening.
The meal started with a duo of white and green asparagus panna cotta, served with arugula in a dressing of hazelnut oil with pine nuts. Next came a seared fillet of wild sea bass with an almond milk and shiso emulsion.
Then, it was time for one of the evening’s highlights : the parade of our Master Canardiers holding ducks on a dagger, preceded by the banners of the different delegations present. Before Rouennaise Duckling was served, two demonstrations were performed by Master Canardiers from Coudray Traiteur and by the Guéret family, who showed how to carve the ducks and prepare the sauce.
After the heart-shaped Coupigny cheese came another highlight, when the guests celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Ordre des Canardiers by cheering the members of the Board and the Consuls who gathered around Coudray Traiteur’s festive creation. Finally, the meal ended with a vanilla and salted caramel mille-feuilles.
Before going on the dance floor, every participant was presented with an apron featuring the logos of the Canardiers and of our partner Crédit Agricole, which contributed to the purchase of this gift.
